Autodealer and The Corrupting Sea, coming off scoring two plays which premiered in Hollywood, now offer their newest release, Returning to the Found of Destruction. Autodealer and The Corrupting Sea have found a synergy in Transverse and an outlet from their experiences in a changing and rather scary world. The post-apocalyptic album continues the themes of Slow Moving Apocalypse with jabs at landlords and their cruelty, the disease of post-capitalism, the fall-out from covid and the ignorance it exposed, and the evils of the GOP.
There is also a core that places the pair as allies to those who are being oppressed in the U.S.A. and around the world. Notably, “Solidarity July 9, 2022” is filled with an audio recording protesting bans on abortion and women’s healthcare and the mentions of spears note the anti-war and violence ideals of the pair. The project is “punk” in the old sense of the word, beating against the wall that stands between the haves and the have nots.
Returning to the Fount of Destruction continues the pair’s meditation on all that is wrong with the world with a few glimmers of hope threaded throughout the album. It is here, in art, that Transverse finds a voice, screaming into the void which is about to turn the world into a post-apocalyptic nightmare.
Thank you to all those fighting against oppression.
Transverse: Returning to the Found of Destruction will be released September 1, 2023 on limited CD and in all digital formats.
