Welcome to October Somewherecold supporters! Today, by the way, is Bandcamp Day and the label could really use a special boost before year’s end. Ok, on to what is far more special about today.
Droneroom, Blake Conley, is back once again with with his fourth album on Somewherecold Records. Negative Libra is a long form album clocking in at almost 40 minutes. Guitar loops continually evolve and shift while floating over a rhythmic drone and music box bells.
A long time Louisville artist, Droneroom is now mobile and this album was recorded both in Kentucky as well as his new home in Nevada. Inspired by the city as well as the desert, Droneroom‘s guitar loops swirl as well as occasionally explode into brilliant walls of sound.
Not unlike his former work, Negative Libra is a sparse yet engaging piece that utilizes loops and, in this case, a long, ethereal drone to both entrance and enthrall the listener.
