FOR CURRENT PRE-ORDER – A Journey of Giraffes: Kona (Somewherecold Records, 2019)
FOR IMMEDIATE PRE-ORDER: A Journey of Giraffes: Kona
Somewherecold Records is proud to present the pre-orders for A Journey of Giraffes: Kona LP. This is a 22 track delight that is incredible and surprising at every turn. Kona is the new ambient/experimental album by A Journey of Giraffes (aka John Lane). Described by the artist as “basically a love letter to Susumu Yokota”, Kona aims to trawl a mysterious but comforting forest path where woodland sprites drift in and out amongst the big trees. A Journey of Giraffes is not so much in search of Susumu Yokota but more so in communion with his unseen spirit — some song titles are references to rare quotes by Yokota. The texture of Kona also derives its ethereal reality from author Natsume Soseki (The Three Cornered World) and the film “Spirited Away”. Kona is a land of stone grottoes through which freshwater springs erupt, a place of abandoned pagodas where visitors rest handpicked flowers against the warped wooden doors, and where swallows, newborn rabbits, and spunky kittens coexist. The path is endlessly illuminated by miles of paper lanterns and powered by your heartbeat amidst the stillness.
