Somewherecold Records is proud to announce the fifth A Journey of Giraffes release on the label entitled Spool. John Lane once again entrances and spins his magical musical compositions into an amazing album bursting with depth. Electronic noises, drones, and samples populate every track and, in the end, form an organic feeling few can achieve like A Journey of Giraffes.

The touchstone of Spool is derived from reading W.G. Sebald’s trilogy of books: The Rings of Saturn, The Emigrants, and Vertigo. At the Heart of these boos is the idea of the traveler who must keep moving, documenting, and making sense of the threads by occasionally having to stop and just consider.

Spool likewise chronicles place and time, of a personal nature that’s also meant to be personal for the listener.
