OUT TODAY – Cementation Anxiety: In Continual & Departure Street: Every Color in the Sky
This week, Somewherecold Records has a double feature for all the ambient, dark ambient, neo-classical, and experimental music fans. Cementation Anxiety: In Continual is a deeply textured work, playing on the tonal tension of hope and fear. Thunderous sounds and grainy textures swirl around drones that push the album forward from one masterful track to the other. In the midst of all the drones and textures, guitars appear with dreamy overlays. There is also a masterful set of dynamics throughout the album, moving to loud and impenetrable walls of sound to glowing nodes of inviting warmth. Cementation Anxiety: In Continual is out today on limited CD and digital.
Departure Street: Every Color in the Sky introduces another new artist to the Somewherecold family. Beautiful guitar twinkles as the album opens and begins to layer and layer into a grand composition. The use of fades and speaker placement in the mix is masterful and calls out all the right accents at the right moments. The various melodies and counter melodies cascade off of one another creating moments of peace. Departure Street‘s inclusion in the label comes with plans of future albums and I hope you all will support both releases.
