David Newlyn should be a name people in the ambient community know very well. Putting out incredible compositions for a decade and a half, Newlyn also owns and curates the quite popular record label Cathedral Transmissions. With that said, Somewherecold Records is proud to be releasing Newlyn‘s first 12″ vinyl release. Tapes and Ghosts is one of those albums that belong on warm sounding vinyl. Delicate, sparse, and intensely hypnotic, Tapes and Ghosts is most certainly an album all ambient lovers should have on their shelves. “Surfacing” is the first single from the album and today the video directed by Jason T. Lamoreaux was launched. Surreal landscapes, a warming planet, sun spots, and solar flares populate the images of “Surfacing” and it’s sound world.
