By now, readers should know that I absolutely dig Dead Leaf Echo. I anticipate every track release by this band as they continue to leak songs to the fans. Their newest 7″ single is “Strawberry.Skin” and, once again, the band impresses with the throwback pop feel laden with gothic swagger and shoegaze touches. Their sound could be described as the darker side of dreampop, with its fuzzy edges and tonal punchiness. The video for “Strawberry.Skin” really does reflect these qualities in the music. It’s set in a fall/wintery woods with an almost ritually Wiccan feel among what look like hollow ruins or empty park monuments. It’s a gorgeous contrast to the driving bass and percussion and the energy of the aggressive guitar work. Check out the video below and buy yourself a copy of the 7″ at the Bandcamp link below.
