Featured Track: Omega Vague – Afraid
by Jason
Omega Vague is the project of multi-instrumentalist Craig Douglas, who hails from Hartford, Connecticut. The project itself spans a number of genres, but this current track, “Afraid”, gives a glimpse into the forthcoming album Aversion/Reversion. It is Douglas’ sixth album under the moniker Omega Vague. “Afraid” recalls the hazy days of Pink Floyd mixed with the electronic prowess of M83. Piano dots the musical landscape with slightly fuzzy synths and spacey soundscapes. Sparse percussion provides some glue to the structure of the composition while it varies throughout the piece. At about 2:46, reverse synths play along, peeling back all the layers until the piano, percussion, and drawn out thumping bass returns. “Afraid” is addictive with sprinkles of nostalgia. Aversion/Reversion will be released on CD and digital on April 14th on Not Low Records. Go to the Bandcamp link below to pre-order or find the album on Amazon or iTunes.
