OUT TODAY! The Corrupting Sea: Chamber Music for the Dead (Somewherecold Records, 2021)

The Corrupting Sea‘s 14th album, Chamber Music for the Dead, is both disconnected from the artist as well as deeply personal on some levels. As a piece meant solely for the listener, Chamber Music for the Dead is meant to stir the imagination and to conjure a film within the listener’s mind’s eye. It is a soundtrack for an imagined film in the listener’s head. Battle cries, snowy plains, tender moments, and so much more are evoked by the movements throughout the pieces.

Personally, each composition communicates varied emotions of the past six years. For The Corrupting Sea, this means creating soundscapes that reflect the anxiety of a plague begun under the direction of a tin-pot dictator,  the crushing depression of watching people nationwide just not getting it, and the disappointment in humanity, already built into his consciousness but hardened and ever secured. That’s not all, there are moments in the compositions of peace reflecting the safety of his home during these tumultuous times, the support of his partner, and a tiny crystal of hope somewhere in there.

The Corrupting Sea: Chamber Music for the Dead comes in beautiful six panel digipak packaging with CD as well in all digital formats.
